The Barbanza Ecosocial Lab organises a workshop in Isorna to imagine the future of communal forests

On Thursday 21 August, at the Casa da República in Isorna (Rianxo), a community foresight workshop will take place to collectively imagine the future of local forests and define concrete actions to make it a reality. The activity is coordinated by the Montescola Foundation, as part of the Barbanza Ecosocial Lab project.

August 12, 2025 – The Barbanza Ecosocial Lab continues its collaboration with the communal land communities of Rianxo with a new community foresight workshop, this time in Isorna (Rianxo). The aim is to support the Comunidades de Montes Veciñais en Man Común (CMVMC, or communal forest communities) in building a shared long-term vision for their forests, and in defining specific actions that can begin now to move towards that vision.

The workshop, coordinated by the Montescola Foundation, is open to people of all ages, whether or not they are part of the communal land assembly. The methodology, designed specifically within the framework of the project, invites participants to imagine how they would like the forest to be 30 years from now. The outcome will be the development of a Community Action Plan for the forests of Isorna, setting out agreed steps to move towards that desired future.

The programme includes several sessions that will culminate in the joint drafting of the Action Plan. The entire process will be guided by a team from the Montescola Foundation, who will facilitate active, open, and inclusive participation.

The event will take place at the Casa da República in Isorna throughout the day on Thursday 21 August. Those interested can register until Wednesday 20 August by sending an email to info@montescola.org.
