Eucalyptus removal and environmental visit in the Froxán mountains

The Barbanza Ecosocial Laboratory is organizing a volunteer day for eucalyptus removal on the Froxán ‘monte vecinal’, in Lousame. This activity is coordinated by the Montescola Foundation, in collaboration with the Froxán CMVMC.

June 17, 2025 – Next Saturday, June 21, at 9:30 a.m., a new volunteer day will be held for eucalyptus removal and ecological restoration in the Froxán ‘monte vecinal’, in the municipality of Lousame. The activity also includes a guided environmental tour, open to the public, which will provide an insight into the history, biodiversity, and restoration processes of this emblematic space.

The initiative is coordinated by the Montescola Foundation, within the framework of the Barbanza Ecosocial Laboratory, and is made possible by the common land community of Froxán. The objective is to encourage citizen participation in the restoration of degraded ecosystems and raise awareness about the impacts of eucalyptus plantations in the Galician mountains.

As is customary in these community work sessions, a light lunch will be offered to participants at the end of the activity.

The activity is open to all and free of charge. Those interested can register until Thursday, June 19, by emailing info@montescola.org.

Barbanza Ecosocial Lab has the support of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) of the Government of Spain, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR), funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
