April 28, 2025 – Next Sunday, May 11, at 10:30 a.m., a new citizen science event will be held in the Leiro ‘monte’ (Rianxo), promoted by the Barbanza Ecosocial Laboratory. The meeting point will be the Praia das Cunchas parking lot, from where the activity will depart.

A Bioblitz is a participatory biodiversity identification event, in which experts and local residents collaborate to record as many species as possible present in a natural area in a set amount of time. The activity will feature a multidisciplinary group of experts in botany, entomology, ornithology, and mycology.
It is open to the general public, with no prior knowledge required, and aims to bring local biodiversity closer to the public. Those interested can register until Friday, May 9, by sending an email to info@montescola.org.
Barbanza Ecosocial Lab has the support of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) of the Government of Spain, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR), funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
Coordinated by Fundación RIA, the Barbanza Ecosocial Lab is a project dedicated to promoting the transition towards environmental sustainability and strengthening resilience in the territorial management of the Barbanza common land.
