Aportando valor a la madera de Rianxo: jornadas abiertas en Leiro y Araño
The Plataforma pola Defensa do Monte is organizing two open days in Leiro and Araño to promote the local use of timber through the use of a portable sawmill. The events will include practical demonstrations, community activities, and the opportunity to process locally sourced wood.
April 22, 2025 – As part of the Barbanza Ecosocial Laboratory project, the Plataforma pola Defensa do Monte is organizing two new demonstration days focused on wood processing and the use of a portable sawmill. The first will be held on Tuesday, April 22, in the Leiro Common Land Community, and the second will be held in the Araño Common Land Community (Rianxo), with a date yet to be determined. The Logosol portable sawmill has been provided by the Baroña Common Land Community, and its staff will lead the demonstrations.
These workshops are a continuation of the experience held last March in Baroña (Porto do Son), with a clear objective: to promote the local use of wood and explore sustainable alternatives to forest production, highlighting common land resources from a social, environmental, and community perspective.
The session on the 22nd will include a practical demonstration of the use of the portable sawmill, with the participation of 40 students from the wider Barbanza region. The workshop in Araño is expected to be more open and festive, aimed at the neighborhood and the community at large.
In addition to the practical demonstrations and open activities, individuals or communities are offered the opportunity to process their wood while the portable sawmill is in Rianxo.
