Facilitation guide for imagining the common lands of the future
The Laboratory is creating a methodology for collectively imagining the future of their common lands and defining actions to make it a reality. Coordinated by the Montescola Foundation, which is responsible for designing this innovative methodology within the framework of the project.
March 4, 2025 – The Facilitation Guide for Imagining the Common Lands of the Future was created with the aim of helping Common Land Communities (CMVMCs) collectively visualize the future of their ‘montes’ and transform that vision into concrete actions in the present.
This innovative tool was designed by the Montescola Foundation, an organization specializing in environmental education and community development, within the framework of Action 5 of the Barbanza Ecosocial Laboratory project.
The methodology will be applied in community foresight workshops, which, through a participatory approach, will allow communities to imagine what they want their ‘montes’ to be like in 30 years. From this exercise, a Community Action Plan will be developed, outlining the steps necessary to make that vision a reality.
The guide also offers a detailed and practical approach, allowing other communities to replicate and adapt it. It is available for free download:
Barbanza Ecosocial Lab has the support of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) of the Government of Spain, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR), funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
Coordinated by Fundación RIA, the Barbanza Ecosocial Lab is a project dedicated to promoting the transition towards environmental sustainability and strengthening resilience in the territorial management of the Barbanza common land.
