The Barbanza Ecosocial Laboratory announces a new date in Taragoña for the first of the 'Days for a Living 'Monte'
On Sunday, October 27, the ‘Xornadas polo Monte Vivo’ (Days for a Living Common Land) will be held in Taragoña (Rianxo) with a program full of activities to engage citizens in active land management.
October 18, 2024 — The Barbanza Ecosocial Laboratory is promoting a Sunday full of activities open to public participation, to be held on October 27 at Campo Maneiro in Taragoña (Rianxo, A Coruña).
The project’s partner organizations will carry out multiple activities on this last Sunday in October: training and outreach sessions, a guided tour to visit the forestry work on the Plataforma pola Defensa do Monte’s plots, grazing their goat herd, community service, talks, and more. The detailed agenda for the day is available below.
This workshop is being held after the first eight months of the project, sponsored by the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO), as a small-scale demonstration of the project’s progress during this period. After being selected in the forest bioeconomy call, the Laboratory received almost €2 million in European funding to work in the Rianxo ‘montes’ with the goals of generating employment and economic opportunities, conserving biodiversity, and preventing forest fires.
