Acacia removal day in Campelo, O Vilar and Cerqueiras
The Barbanza Ecosocial Laboratory is organizing a new activity in Rianxo, this time taking place in Campelo, O Vilar, and Cerqueiras.
July 1, 2024 —The Barbanza Ecosocial Laboratory is organizing a new volunteer day in Rianxo, now in the Campelo, O Vilar, and Cerqueiras common land community.
The activity will take place on the morning of Saturday, July 13th, and will focus on removing acacia trees to restore the native forest in the Rianxo ‘montes’. This is open to the public and all ages are welcome; it will begin at 9:30 a.m. near the water point at the entrance to Cerqueiras and Vilar. Registration is required to participate, and must be done by sending an email to info@montescola.org by Thursday, July 10th. At the end of the day’s work, snacks will be available to all participants.
Coordinated by Montescola (the entity in charge of community foresight, volunteering, and environmental education activities at the Barbanza Ecosocial Laboratory), the event also includes the support of the Common Land Communities in Campelo, O Vilar, and Cerqueiras.
Barbanza Ecosocial Lab has the support of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) of the Government of Spain, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR), funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
Coordinated by Fundación RIA, the Barbanza Ecosocial Lab is a project dedicated to promoting the transition towards environmental sustainability and strengthening resilience in the territorial management of the Barbanza common land.
