July 1, 2024 — The Barbanza Ecosocial Laboratory organized an information day yesterday to celebrate the launch of a raw materials processing center in Baroña, Porto do Son.
Gastronomic experiences, a local produce market, talks, and a eucalyptus removal session were some of the activities held throughout the day. Festive and open to the public, this activity aimed to raise awareness of this new collective workshop that will serve other ‘comunidades de montes’ and small producers.
The center will be managed by the Plataforma pola Defensa do Monte and will allow for the valorization of the region’s food products and a paradigm shift in the local food system.
Barbanza Ecosocial Lab has the support of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) of the Government of Spain, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR), funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
Coordinated by Fundación RIA, the Barbanza Ecosocial Lab is a project dedicated to promoting the transition towards environmental sustainability and strengthening resilience in the territorial management of the Barbanza common land.
